Timing is everything. People often panic three days before a storm makes landfall.. The reality is conditions are often beautiful and winds are mild. The day of landfall is when conditions deteriorate rapidly. It is incredibly important to monitor the wind sensors and radar. It is possible to kiteboard winds generated from hurricanes, however, timing is imperative.

Hi guys welcome back to another mission, this week it is Day 3 of the Dakhla Down Wind challenge in the Western Sahara Desert with my dad. This has got to be one of the hardest kiteboarding down winders in the world, not just because of the distance but also because of the lack of rest. Not much sleep, and hours on the water each day! In this episode we kite-surf around Cape Barbaras which is on the tropic of Capricorn as we head south down through the desert…
As we round the 40km of vertical sharp cliffs, we realise that there is no turning back and we must keep going until the end of this adventure! Light winds, currents, fishing nets and sharp rocks all stand in our way… as long as the equipment doesn’t break we will be OK!
